Flexible packaging

Advanced Flexible Packaging

The primary function of packaging materials is to protect the product from:

  • physical damage
  • microbial deterioration
  • chemical changes

A number of packaging materials meet most of these requirements and they are being used, either separately or in combination with other materials. Each product fulfills specific needs, based on its chemical composition, physiological condition and the type of processing required for the final product.

The food packaging industry is increasingly demanding, often requiring some exceptional combinations of properties.

Beyond pure performances, appearance is a key element to product differentiation and thus sales, which push manufacturers to constantly develop new concepts for today’s consumers who demand even more from the films and pouches found on store shelves.
