Borouge and Borealis, leading providers of innovative plastics solutions for the global wire and cable industry, will be organizing on February 8, 2012, their inaugural Wire & Cable Academy in the Middle East, following the successful launch of the Academy in China in November 2011.
A large number of participants from leading cable manufacturers and suppliers in the UAE and Middle East are expected to attend the launch of the Academy next month. Due to be held in Dubai under the theme “Bringing energy all around”, the event will discuss the scope of collaboration to provide the wire and cable industry markets in the Middle East with the best and latest innovative solutions in the industry. Technical experts and international speakers will share their knowledge and the know-how with the participants. Building up on their strong connections with key stakeholders across the value chain, the event will provide Borouge and Borealis with an opportunity to reinforce their commitment to this region by demonstrating their latest innovative solutions for the wire and cable industry.
The Wire & Cable Academy was initiated by Borouge and Borealis three years ago to facilitate knowledge sharing between key value chain stakeholders as well as to enhance industry standards and support future developments of innovative wire and cable solutions.
“Our global Wire & Cable Academy provides a unique platform for experts to share knowledge and strengthen business relationships across the industry in the Middle East,” says Roland Janssen, Vice President Marketing – Wire & Cable at Borouge. “We want to increase awareness of the performance and reliability of the existing power delivery infrastructure and gain a better appreciation of the opportunities and challenges that result from developing a more reliable network."
Janssen adds that last year Borealis was awarded with the prestigious Frost and Sullivan 2011 Europe Product Leadership Award in the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable insulation market, honouring the high electrical breakdown properties of the Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) based insulation compound Superclean™ LE4253DC, bringing performance reliability improvements to High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cables.
The key wire and cable manufacturers, suppliers and experts participating in the event will have the opportunity to hold meetings with representatives of Borouge and Borealis, in addition to the significant topics that will be discussed during the event. Various important presentations will be delivered covering subjects such as energy development in Europe and relationship with Middle East, Transco experience of OC (Open Circuit) and UG (Underground) for HV/EHV (High Voltage/Extra High Voltage), EHV and HV undergrounding, WTR and MV related topic, high performing medium and high voltage XLPE cable manufacturing and new innovations, and the importance of high standard cable for cable manufacturers.
Together, Borouge and Borealis have pioneered advances in insulation systems and jacketing solutions for both energy and communication cables through various global brands, which include Supercure™, Visico/Ambicat™, Borcell™, Borstar® and Casico™. The two companies deliver step-change technological solutions along the value chain that respond directly to needs for production, installation and cable system lifetime enhancements.
