  • Compounding Manufacturing Unit (CMU) facility for automotive industry with around 50,000 tonnes/year on track for operation by mid-2010.

Shanghai, China—Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, ensure the progress on Compounding Manufacture Unit (CMU) project in Shanghai is under schedule. The construction of CMU is expected to be completed by the end of 2009, to be operational in mid-2010. Leveraging on the Borouge 2 project and the strong networks, Borouge is developing in the Chinese automotive value chain with a range of innovative plastics solutions for bumpers, body panels, dashboard and door claddings provided from CMU in Shanghai in future.

The management and employees from Borouge’s Shanghai office visited the site of the CMU and were impressed by the high class operational standards and fast progress being made with the construction of the new facilities.  “I am glad to have our colleagues to see and feel this exciting progress.” said by Mr. Kevin Liu, Vice President for the Business Unit Mobility, “Borouge has gained remarkable reputation in China for excellent products and innovative solutions. Building a Compounding Plant with 50,000 t/y in Shanghai will bring its state of art manufacturing capability to China, with the ability to expand capacity as needed to meet future market demand.”

In ensuring the smooth logistics in different markets, Borouge is investing three large scale logistics and distribution hubs in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Singapore with annual supply and distribute volume up to 246,000 t/y, 600,000 t/y and 330,000 t/y respectively. These logistic hubs will enable Borouge to provide local logistics and distribution services to its customers throughout China and South East Asia when it becomes operation in mid-2010.
