Mr Harri Bucht has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer for Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Limited (Borouge), based in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). Mr Bucht’s appointment builds upon the recent successful start-up of Borouge’s US$1.2 billion petrochemical complex in Ruwais, U.A.E, on December 20, 2001. The new management structure will also strengthen the business focus and the links between the two Borouge companies.
Based in Abu Dhabi, Mr Bucht is responsible for overseeing the smooth operations of the ethylene cracker and two Borstar® polyethylene lines.
With effect from 1 March 2002, Mr Bucht will take over the helm of managing the production company from the outgoing CEO, Mr Joost Schrevens. Mr Schrevens will assume a newly created position as Site Manager, before returning to a senior management position in Borealis later this year.
Mr Bucht will work in concert with Mr Hubert Puchner, CEO of Borouge Pte Ltd, the marketing arm, to develop Borouge’s business across Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Prior to his appointment as CEO for Abu Dhabi Polymers, Mr Bucht was serving as Vice President, Middle East and Asia for Borealis and was a Board member in both Borouge companies. He has previously served in Borealis Group as Vice President for the Moulding Business Unit, Vice President Sales and Vice President of Human Resources. Before joining Borealis, Mr Bucht had a long career in Neste Chemicals, in various senior management positions. He has wide international experience with posting stints to countries such as Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Denmark and the U.A.E. Mr Bucht, a Finn, is married with three children.
