Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, concluded an internal donation campaign through which the Company and its employees have raised about AED 220,000 as contribution to support the drought and starvation victims in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
The donation made by Borouge through its social committees in Abu Dhabi and Ruwais was coordinated with the major relief campaign that the UAE Red Crescent has launched on the occasion of the UAE’s celebration of the International Arabic Volunteer Day.
“Borouge’s contribution to support our Somalis brothers in their ordeal is inspired by the humanitarian values that Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has instilled in us,” says Abdulaziz Alhajri, CEO of Borouge’s Production Company. “Our internal campaign for the relief of people in Somalia came as a response to the nationwide call made by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent.”
Alhajri added that Borouge and Borealis, through their ‘Water for the World™’ programme, have been long partners in supporting humanitarian projects such as providing clean water to people in the Horn of Africa, especially that both companies are members in the Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP).
