The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its Group of Companies highlighted their commitment and contribution to the development of UAE petrochemicals industry through participating, as a general supporter, in the 8th Middle East Refining and Petrochemicals Conference & Exhibition (Middle East Petrotech 2012) being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 20-23, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HE Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain opened the Middle East Petrotech exhibition organized under the theme ‘Creating Value: Technology, Investment & People’. The opening ceremony was attended by HE Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Abdul Aziz bin Hadef Al Shamsi, the UAE Ambassador to Kingdom of Bahrain, Rashed Saud Al Shamsi Petrochemicals Director at ADNOC, Abdulaziz Alhajri CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd (Borouge), and senior representatives from ADNOC’s Group of Companies.
The exhibition provides the companies participating under the umbrella of ADNOC, including Borouge and Fertil, the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and best practices of the industry with representatives of high-level regional and international petrochemical companies. The event is another platform for ADNOC and its Group of Companies to demonstrate Abu Dhabi’s continuous endeavors to support and improve the petrochemicals industry and be introduced to the latest technologies used in this field. The Petroleum Institute (PI) also participated highlighting the various programmes that it offers in contribution to the industry. It was noted that the PI had witnessed the graduation of its first batch of engineering students in 2006.
Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister HE Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa toured the Middle East Petrotech exhibition and visited the ADNOC Group stand where he was introduced to the innovative plastics solutions produced by Borouge for the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging markets. Borouge’s representatives at the stand highlighted the role the Company is playing in enhancing the petrochemicals industry in the UAE and its continuous efforts to create a variety of value added solutions for society. Fertil also highlighted its projects in utilizing gas to manufacture fertilizers and so boosting agriculture.
More than 1,500 delegates and exhibitors representing over 100 companies from 20 countries are participating in the exhibition. The event has been witnessing the delivery of more than 7 technical presentations during the three-day exhibition highlighting major issues such as downstream industry best practices in HSE, refining and petrochemical technologies, investing in plants of the future and developing people utilising world class HR processes.
Bilateral meetings have been held during the event between the heads of participating refining and petrochemicals companies to discuss issues of mutual concern focusing on the technical and business changes and the extensive opportunities the Middle East is facing in managing what have become the world’s most important energy reserves.
