Borouge and Borealis, leading providers of chemical and innovative plastics solutions, demonstrated their wide range of solutions that contribute to addressing the sustainability, processing and end-use performance challenges of Eurasia’s manufacturing sectors at Plast Eurasia, the 23rd International Istanbul Plastics Industry Fair held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 5-8 December 2013.
Visitors to the Borouge and Borealis joint stand at Plast Eurasia 2013 exhibition learned about the two companies’ latest products and technologies and their continuous contributions in supporting the global plastics industry. “Plast Eurasia provides us with another opportunity to showcase our latest innovative plastics solutions and technologies in this part of the world, and to show support to our customers in this region to achieve the efficiency, high-quality and environmental-related benefits they need to be sustainable within their markets,” said Hazeem Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President Middle East & Africa (MEAE), who led Borouge’s marketing and sales team at the event.
“Turkey is an important market for Borouge and participating with Borealis in Plast Eurasia enables us to meet with the many convertors in this region to discuss their needs and introduce them to our advanced solutions, technologies and expansion projects.”
The applications put on Borouge and Borealis display being made of the two companies’ polyolefin solutions enhance product capabilities and aesthetics whilst delivering time and resource savings to plastics processors and end product manufacturers for the advanced packaging, healthcare, mobility and infrastructure sectors. Incorporating the latest polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) materials, the featured applications reflect Borouge and Borealis’ commitment in supporting high quality and differentiation alongside more efficient and environmentally sustainable manufacturing.
For the advanced packaging sector, both companies introduced their PP compounds for film transparent applications Borpeel™ WD955CF, Steripeel™ WE950CF, in addition to BorPure™ RF490MO, BorPure™ RJ766MO and Bormod™ BH381MO. They use the proprietary Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT) for improving the properties and performance of PP for rigid lightweight packaging and enabling greater productivity through faster processing, energy savings and moulding cycle time reductions. Borouge and Borealis also presented their full range of Bormed™ polyolefins which meet the challenging needs of primary pharmaceutical and diagnostic packaging for the healthcare sector.
Innovative components and applications made of the added-value of Xmod™ short glass fibre (SGF) reinforced PP compounds were also appreciated by the global automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier One suppliers. The Xmod™ GB477HP compound, for example, provide a viable alternative to traditional, higher-density engineering plastics and offer comparable mechanical properties, sound-dampening advantage, weight reduction potential and processing performance benefits. This grade is used for front end carriers, pedal carriers and tailgate carriers.
Reflecting their on-going support for sustainability and high-performance within the pipe sector, Borouge and Borealis presented their new family of products intended for drip irrigation applications, Borstar® Aquility™. The new tailored PE materials optimise productivity and rationalise costs for producers in the creation of water-saving, thin wall drip irrigation pipes and tapes.
The two companies showcased their Borlink™ technology for the wire and cable sector. Offering a complete global package of power materials, experience, knowledge and support, Borlink™ is a wire and cable industry-wide platform cross-linking the technology, products and expertise to connect networks and grids as well as people and their access to energy.
“Borouge and Borealis are committed to supporting the demand growth in the Eurasian markets and we are taking active steps to improve the possibilities for the region’s plastics manufacturers, convertors and brand owners to benefit from our solutions in developing their products to achieve sustainability and efficiency,” added Hazeem Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President Middle East & Africa (MEAE).
