News : BOROUGE RECEIVES HONORABLE “RISING STAR” GPCA RESPONSIBLE CARE AWARD

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 9 May 2018: In recognition of Borouge’s commitment towards making Responsible Care an integral part of how we operate, the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) has selected Borouge’s HSE Environmental Engineer and Senior Environmental Specialist, Ms. Manal Al Badawi, as the honourable recipient of its “Rising Star” Award for her remarkable efforts in improving environmental standards and active contribution to GPCA taskforces.

The 2nd GPCA Responsible Care Awards ceremony took place on 7 May 2018, as part of the three-day GPCA Responsible Care Conference held under the theme of “Responsible Care® - the Competitive Advantage” where esteemed likeminded individuals and companies from across the Middle Eastern region came together to discuss key topics that will define the future direction of Responsible Care.

“Receiving this Award means that Borouge’s deep commitment towards Responsible Care has been recognised.  As our employees are our most vital asset in our journey towards continuous success, this Award also reassures us that our efforts towards supporting the growth and development of employees such as Manal, are steering us in the right direction as we continue in our ambition to be a company that is INSPIRING TOMORROW,” shared Mr. Ahmed Omar Abdualla, CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge).

Borouge’s Vice President of Corporate HSE, Mr. Hussain Al Hammadi, who accepted the Award  on Manal’s behalf, shared, “I am deeply honoured that the GPCA recognises the positive impact of the numerous initiatives that Manal has pioneered with the team. She is a strong inspiration and an example of how passion, expertise and hard work come together to bring the principles of Responsible Care to life across Borouge, and hopefully across the industry as well.”

Manal has led various environmental and HSE campaigns across Borouge including waste recycling, stack emissions monitoring programme and fugitive emissions monitoring. She has also contributed several other  HSE campaigns such as ‘Healthy BMI’, ‘GPCA’s Waste Free Environment’, housekeeping, ‘TAKE-2’ and computer based trainings which introduced a next generation of learning. Manal’s hard work, dedication, commitment and team work spirit has made her the Co-Chairperson of the current GPCA industrial waste, climate change and energy efficiency taskforces.

The GPCA Responsible Care Awards aim to recognise and share the experiences of the companies and individuals who have exemplified leadership and outstanding performance based on the implementation and execution of the Responsible Care programme over the preceding two years.
