The petrochemical production plant in Ruwais, about 250 km west of Abu Dhabi City in the United Arab Emirates, is central to Borouge’s operations.
Following the successful start-up of the Borouge 3 project in 2015, Borouge’s site in Ruwais, UAE, is now the world’s largest integrated polyolefins complex, with production capacity having doubled to 4.5 million tonnes. Today, Borouge and Borealis have a combined annual production capacity of approximately 8 million tonnes of polyethylene and polypropylene.
Borouge’s total annual capacity of 4.5 million tonnes includes:
- 2,300,000 tonnes of polyethylene per year
- 1,760,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year
- 350,000 tonnes of low density polyethylene per year, supporting our cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) compounding facility
We have expanded our Compounding Manufacturing Plant in China to an annual capacity of 90,000 tonnes of compounded polypropylene resins. Our mobility customers in China and the region will benefit from our expanded offering and increased availability; strengthening our relationship with China’s mobility value chain as we provide our portfolio of customised solutions for the automotive market.
