Enhanced Durability

Floating Photovoltaic (FPV) systems are designed to float on water.They are subjected to constant movement, exposure to dampness and UV radiation. The Borealis Borstar® technology provides superior Environmental Stress-Crack Resistance (ESCR) HDPE, ensuring the system can withstand stressed conditions without showing signs of wear and tear. The increased durability leads to a longer lifespan for the system and reduces the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.

 

Reducing Carbon Footprint and Improving Production Throughput

Borouge’s injection moulding HDPE with superior stress-crack resistance is a breakthrough for the solar float design concept. It helps reduce carbon emissions by reducing the number of shipping containers needed to ship the FPV floats compared to traditional blow moulding processing method.

HDPE from Borstar® technology also exhibits good flow properties equivalent to standard monomodal higher melt flow rate (MFR) HDPE resin, thus offering great mechanical performance of a lower MFR but ease of processibility of a higher MFR.
