Moulding in healthcare applications is a challenging area with many special requirements including compliance to stringent international health standards.

Borouge offers Borealis’ PP moulding grades for production of healthcare applications which are characterised by a high transparency or a low friction (or a combination of both) and which can resist sterilisation via radiation up till 25 kGY.

Our PP grades for injection moulded healthcare applications fulfill the following requirements:

• Clean production
  When producing grades for healthcare applications, we pay special attention to avoid contamination from other materials.  For instance, at Borealis’ manufacturing plants, there are “super-critical change-overs” each time such materials are produced, including a thorough cleaning of the equipment.

• Durability
  Changing materials in healthcare applications is a costly and time-consuming process. Our PP products come with a lifetime guarantee, thus eliminating the need for change.

• Drug testing
  All healthcare materials for moulding must be tested according to the US Pharmacopoeia, including the class VI test.  To facilitate the approval process for our customers, we have drug master files for healthcare materials available upon written request.
