Capacity

Central to Borouge’s success is our US$1.5 billion petrochemical complex in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, which is the first Borstar® facility in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The complex, which came onstream in late 2001, was officially inaugurated in October 2002.

The 260-hectare complex comprises a 600,000-tonne ethylene cracker and two polyethylene lines, which produce up to 450,000 tonnes of enhanced polyethylene per year.  In 2005 the second stage saw an expansion of total PE capacity to 600,000 tonnes per annum.

Location

The petrochemical complex is located in Ruwais, about 250 km west of Abu Dhabi city.
