Borouge manufactures and supplies two PE80 for gas and drinking water pipe market:
-
Borsafe™ HE3470-LS, High Density Black PE compound
-
Borsafe™ ME3440, Medium Density Black PE compound
Borsafe™ HE3490-LS and Borsafe™ ME3440 offer significant product benefits compared to conventional materials. On top of its Minimum Required Strength (MRS) of 10.0 (HE3490-LS) and 8.0 for (ME3440), these grades offer superior resistance to Slow Crack Growth (SCG) and Rapid Crack propagation (RCP) compared to Unimodal HDPE and MDPE resins.
Borsafe™ HE3470-LS enables large diameter thick walled pipe to be produced with minimal Low Sag phenomena. Typical applications are large diameter mains trunk mains but the unique properties mean that the same material is also suitable for small pipes for gas and drinking water pipes.
In many temperate and cold regions and countries e.g. Europe and China, many installers and end users prefer Medium Density PE80 (MDPE) materials due to their superior flexibility and coilability. The tailored molecular weight distribution of the Borstar process enhances the Slow Crack Growth resistance and the Rapid Crack Propagation of the Borsafe™ ME3440 – two key properties that define the reliability of PE systems.
Pipe made out of PE100 Borsafe™HE3490-LS and PE80 Borsafe™ME3440 is now widely used around the world for transporting and distributing water, natural gas, and chemicals.
