Abu Dhabi, UAE - 22 April 2019: Borouge’s dedication to excellence and outstanding performance were recognised as it received the Gold category of the prestigious Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards (SKEA) during a ceremony held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The Gold category of Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award granted to Borouge comes two years after the company had won the Gold category of the same highly-acclaimed Award in 2016.

The Gold Award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, to Ahmed Omar Abdulla, CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge), during the ceremony which was attended by the senior executives of Borouge and its shareholders (ADNOC, Borealis), along with local dignitaries and representatives from the private and public sectors.

“It is a great honour to receive this Award which clearly embodies the hard work, dedication and remarkable performance of every employee at Borouge,” said Borouge’s CEO Ahmed Omar Abdulla. “Having proudly received this prestigious Award twice under the Gold category strengthens our leading position as a major local producer of petrochemicals and a key player in the UAE’s economic development.”

The granting of the Gold category of Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards to Borouge comes as a result of long hours spent by a team of assessors from Award’s Higher Committee of industry experts who evaluated Borouge’s pursuit of excellence in terms of planning, on-site engagement and reporting.

“Winning the Gold category of the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards is not only attributed to Borouge’s commitment to excel in production, marketing, innovation and partnerships, it is also the great efforts that were put by Borouge’s employees across all regions to make this Gold Award possible,” said Wim Roels, CEO of Borouge Pte Ltd.

The level of assessment and expertise amongst the assessors makes it even more rewarding for Borouge as the feedback the company received in 2016 has been invaluable to drive their improvements and contribute to improve Borouge’s score.

Focused on Borouge’s four pillars of Performance, People, Profitability and Efficiency to ensure the company maintains its competitive edge, Borouge has launched several engaging initiatives that improve performance and serve as a catalyst for excellence throughout the organisation. Such initiatives include the Borouge Excellence Awards, Employee Engagement Programme, and Enterprise Mobility Management Services to name a few.

The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards was launched by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI) in 1999 as a tool to drive continuous improvements in organisations across the region, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the business sector in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
