​A Lighter Material for Your Lithium-Ion Battery (LIB)​

Compared other thermoplastic materials such as PA or PC/ABS, halogen-free flame-retardant polypropylene for lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) will allow you to reduce the part weight by up to 20% due to its lower density. This weight reduction contributes to lighter LIBs, which, in turn, benefits the driving range of EVs.

By using Borouge's halogen-free flame-retardant polypropylene, you can ensure that your LIBs meet stringent safety and performance requirements while maintaining high levels of manufacturing efficiency.

Borouge's FR-PP demonstrates excellent electrical performance, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the battery. The material also exhibits high flame retardancy, meeting UL 94 standards down to 1.6mm, and offers a balanced combination of stiffness, elongation and flowability.


Better Cost-effectiveness

Compared to FR PA or PC compounds, our halogen-free flame-retardant polypropylene for LIBs enables you to save costs due to lower material and production costs. It enables a lower processing temperature, at more than 50°C lower than that required for FR PA or PC compounds. This leads to shorter cycle times and reduced energy consumption.

Additionally, this material offers good processability with low complexity, making it a practical and efficient option for LIB production.
