Responsible Care®

Guided by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), the Responsible Care® Global Charter was launched in 1985 in Canada as the chemical industry's global voluntary initiative under which companies, through their national associations, work effectively to continuously improve Health, Safety and Environmental performance across the entire value chain. By following the guiding principles of Responsible Care®, companies must communicate with stakeholders about their products and the processes they employ to manufacture and supply safe and affordable products that bring tangible benefits to society.

Responsible Care® was commended by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg for being a significant contribution to sustainable development by the chemical industry.

Borouge is committed to the continued support of the Responsible Care® Global Charter and to working in conjunction with the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) as one of its eight founding members, towards a common goal of full Responsible Care® membership for all GCC companies. Reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, Borouge cosigned the Responsible Care® Global Charter with Borealis in 2006, being the first Gulf-based company to do so. This commitment was reinforced in 2009 when Borouge CEO signed a Declaration of Support (click here).
