Abu Dhabi – UAE, Cairo – Egypt, 9 January 2020: Borouge, a leading UAE petrochemicals company that provides innovative, value creating plastics solutions, launches new packaging solutions of polymers that enable recyclability and help the packaging industry advance its sustainability and circular economy commitments.
The launch of Borstar® FB5600 by Borouge is unveiled at the 7th International African-Arabian Exhibition for Plastics Industry (PLASTEX 2020) being held in Cairo, Egypt, from 9-12 January 2020.

Borstar® FB5600 is a new grade of bimodal HDPE that reflects Borouge’s continuous efforts to delivering new mono-material solutions that unlock value for customers. The launch of the new product at PLASTEX embodies Borouge’s interest in strengthening its presence in the Egyptian market and positioning itself as the provider of choice of polyolefin in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

With the increasing demand for polyolefins in the MENA region and the industry’s interest in adopting and applying circular economy practices, this new solution introduced by Borouge aims to help its packaging customers improve their business and contribute to environment protection by enabling plastic packaging waste to be reused and recycled.

“Participating in the prominent plastics exhibition PLASTEX 2020, provides Borouge with an opportunity to reinforce our continuous commitment to supporting our customers in Egypt and introduce them to our increasing portfolio of differentiated and creative plastics solutions,” said Wim Roels, CEO at Borouge Pte Ltd. “Egypt remains one of the fastest growing polymers markets is the Middle East and North Africa and is an essential gateway for Borouge to the whole region.”

The plastics market in Egypt is very important to Borouge given the long history of business collaboration with its customers in the region that started in 2002.  PLASTEX provides Borouge with an ideal platform to be closer to its customers and partners, discuss their concerns and understand their new requirements, in addition to introducing them to Borouge’s new portfolio of solutions that reinforce their competitiveness.

Visited by a large number of major plastics manufacturers, converters and end users from the MENA region, Borouge’s stand at PLASTEX 2020 displays a wide range of application samples that are made of Borouge’s polyolefin solutions for packaging, infrastructure, energy and agriculture sectors.
Borouge’s packaging films, made of Borouge’s polymers, are engineered to be safe, light, environmentally friendly and contribute to reduce food waste. Borouge has set industry standards with its infrastructure solutions that add value through improved processing properties, lower maintenance, longer product lifetime, increased safety and no leakages. Using the most advanced technologies from Borealis, Borouge provides insulation and jacketing materials for low to high voltage cables. For the agriculture sector, Borouge provides sustainable plastics solutions for greenhouse films and irrigation pipes to help farmers increase crop productivity through higher and earlier yields.

While at PLASTEX a number of technical seminars are organised to update current and potential customers, converters and end-users of the newly launched solutions, while the Borouge leadership are attending live machinery demonstrations of key Egyptian customers using Borouge’s materials.
